There are many reasons for a population's prosperity. The core question of "Is a population doing well?" is not so easy to answer. Because what is good for a population depends entirely on people's opinions. What is good and what is bad for people? Opinions differ profoundly on this.
Another important question is whether the benchmark should be the personal perception of each individual, or the common good of society as a whole, the state, or even of socially influential groups such as political parties or religious communities.
In any case, it makes sense to fundamentally define the goal of any activity of a population. Because without a goal of where future development should go, one cannot influence the future of each individual. While the passage of time inevitably leads to future development, whether it progresses toward prosperity is questionable.
One level deeper than such fundamental considerations, however, there are connections as to how something can best be achieved from an economic perspective. The connection is: The goal, i.e., achieving what one wants with as little effort as possible and as much as one wants, requires economic thinking. As a result of our logical thinking skills, to achieve what is generally understood as prosperity.
This requirement for prosperity, the achievement of a goal with as little effort as possible, is unfortunately not always practiced in our everyday practical world. Roughly speaking, one can say that the less it is practiced, the lower the prosperity of a population.
Not only material prosperity, but also immaterial prosperity, which is often manifested in the spiritual peace orientation of a population and the personal freedom of each individual.
Flying oneself as a private pilot and building one's own aircraft as a private individual combine these core characteristics of prosperity. Without this, private flying and also building private aircraft would not be possible. It is a direct result of the prosperity that humanity has created over the many thousands of years of its development and existence.
Conversely, one could say that those who reject private flying and private aircraft construction, as well as commercial aircraft construction and commercial flight operations, do not support or promote, but oppose them, are eroding our collective prosperity on these essential issues.
We must continually point this out and remind everyone of it. Flying, especially private flying, but also mass air travel, embodies our collective prosperity. Regardless of how high the commercial profits generated are.

Der Wohlstand einer Bevölkerung hat viele Gründe. Der Kernaspekt „Geht es einer Bevölkerung gut?“ Ist nicht so einfach zu beantworten. Weil darunter was für eine Bevölkerung gut ist, sich ganz nach der Meinung der Menschen orientiert. Was ist für Menschen gut und was schlecht? Da scheiden sich die Geister sehr tiefgehend.
Eine wichtige Frage ist auch die, ob der Maßstab das persönliche empfinden jeden Einzelnen sein soll, oder das Gemeinwohl der Gesellschaft als Ganzes, des Staates. Oder auch der gesellschaftlich tragenden Gruppen wie politischer Parteien oder Glaubensgemeinschaften der Maßstab sein sollen.
Jedenfalls ist es sinnvoll grundsätzlich das Ziel jedweder Aktivitäten einer Bevölkerung zu definieren. Denn ohne Ziel wohin die Zukunftsentwicklung gehen soll, kann man nicht Einflüsse auf die Zukunft jedes Einzelnen erreichen. Zwar entsteht schon durch das Fortschreiten der Zeit zwangsläufig eine Zukunftsentwicklung, doch ob sie in Richtung Wohlstand verläuft ist fraglich.
Eine Stufe tiefer unter solchen grundlegenden Überlegungen gibt es aber Zusammenhänge wie man etwas unter wirtschaftlichen Gesichtspunkten am besten erreicht. Der Zusammenhang ist:
Das Ziel, also das erreichen was man haben möchte, mit möglichst wenig Aufwand und soviel man will zu erreichen gebietet wirtschaftliches Denken. Als Ergebnis unseres logischen Denkvermögens. Um das zu erreichen was allgemein als Wohlstand verstanden wird.
Dieses Erfordernis für Wohlstand, das Erreichen eines Zieles mit möglichst wenig Aufwand, wird in unserer täglichen praktischen Welt leider nicht immer praktiziert. Ganz grob kann man sagen, je weniger es praktiziert wird, um so geringer ist der Wohlstand einer Bevölkerung.
Nicht nur der materielle Wohlstand, sondern auch der immaterielle Wohlstand, der sich oft an der geistigen Friedensausrichtung einer Bevölkerung und der persönlichen Freiheit jedes Einzelnen manifestiert.
Selber fliegen als Privatpilot und selbst Flugzeuge bauen als Privatperson verbindet diese Kernmerkmale des Wohlstandes. Ohne dies ist privates Fliegen aber auch privates Flugzeug bauen nicht möglich. Es ist ein direktes Ergebnis unseres Wohlstandes, den sich die Menschheit in der sehr viele tausend Jahre ihrer Entwicklung und Existenz geschaffen hat.
Im Umkehrschluss kann man sagen, wer privates Fliegen und privaten Flugzeugbau, aber auch den kommerziellen Flugzeugbau und den kommerziellen Flugbetrieb ablehnt, nicht unterstütz, nicht fördert sondern bekämpft, nagt in diesen wesentlichen Punkten an unserer aller Wohlstand.
Hierauf müssen wir immer wieder hinweisen und es in Erinnerung rufen. Fliegen, gerade auch privates Fliegen, aber auch der Massen Luftverkehr verkörpert unser aller Wohlstand. Unabhängig davon wie hoch erwirtschaftete kommerzielle Gewinne sind.
